Abstract

Field experiments to study the effect of time of weed removal on performance of upland lice were conducted in randomized block design with four replications under the Co-ordinated Research project on Dryland Agriculture at the Research Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Banaras Hindu University. It was found that the weeds could be permitted 1:0 grow in the crop at the most for 10 days after seeding Any further competition is likely to reduce ihe yield significantly. Keeping the crop of rice weed free from 10 days after seeding up to maturity can mike maximum possible yield. The period beiween 10 days to 30–40 days after seeding appeared the most vulnerable when serious reduction in yield occurred in the weedy plots.
