Abstract Penetrating foreign body was diagnosed in paraoesophageal region with the help of contrast radiography in a cow presented with history of dysphagia, drooling of saliva, dull and depressed. Animal was operated in right lateral recumbency and penetrating needle was retrieved with gentle dissection from dorsal part of oesophagus. Animal showed uneventful recovery.
