Successful Treatment of Babesia gibsoni infection in a Splenectomized dog

Abstract

A splenectomized Rottweiler pup with persistent anemia and low platelet count, not responding to treatment was reported. The dog was diagnosed with Babesia gibsoni infection following blood smear examination and was successfully treated with imidocarb dipropionate along with other supportive therapy and blood transfusion.
