The clinical assessment of soft palate injuries in dromedary camels was carried out in twenty three (23) camels of different age groups. The clinical occurrence of soft palate injuries according to age, sex and seasons was treated and recorded. Under deep sedation, injured dulaa was resected surgically. Entrapped dulaa was gently pulled out using long hook before performing surgery. Factors affecting recovery after treatment were investigated. All affected animals were male and in 6–13 years age group. In rut season, it was higher occurrence due to self bite or fighting with offender camels. Satisfactory healing was recorded in all treated cases after surgical resection. Top Keywords Camel, dromedary, dulaa, soft palate, surgery. Top |
