Abstract The study records the pre and post-treatment alterations in clinico-hemato-biochemical indices of five dogs positive for naturally occurring monocytic ehrlichiosis based on blood smear examination. Significantly (P<0.05) lower hemoglobin, platelets and TEC along with higher (P>0.05) neutrophils and monocytes were recorded in affected dogs as compared to healthy counterparts. Dogs with ehrlichiosis also showed significantly (P<0.05) increased levels of AST and ALT, suggestive of hepatic involvement in disease pathophysiology. Blood smear examination and estimation of hemato-biochemical parameters hold equal importance for complete diagnostic approach in dogs with ehrlichiosis.
