Online published on 4 May, 2019. Abstract The study was carried out to determine the diagnostic usefulness of post-mortem vitreous humor analysis in estimating the post-mortem intervals. Vitreous humor was collected from ten dogs of different age group and sex. Samples were collected at two time intervals i.e at 0–4 hours and 20–24 hours after death. Samples were processed and levels of potassium and creatinine were estimated. There was a significant difference in potassium value between the means of the individual at 0–4 hours and 20–24 hours post-mortem. No statistically significant differences were observed in creatinine values between the individual or between eyes at 0–4 hours and 20–24 hours in vitreous humor. The study confirms that changes in potassium (K+) concentration in vitreous humor of eye is a reliable measure for estimating time since death in dogs.
