Abstract The present study was conducted in Jalpaiguri District of West Bengal with 120 (60 male and 60 female) Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) beneficiaries. Most of the male respondents were involved in activities of Large Adivasi Multipurpose Society (LAMPS) whereas female respondents were mostly participating in vocational training under TSP. The extent of participation difference between male and female was found to be significant. In gender empowerment considerable difference was found between male and female respondents in terms of psychological, economic, social and political dimensions.
