Abstract

Expressions which comment on government action rather than the private conduct of an individual is called political speech. Every political party has certain aims, they focus on farsighted plans and developed ideologies which play an important role in forming public opinion. They influence the minds of the people. Their slogans, manifestos, use of words and phrases within different ideological frameworks are worth investigating. One of the most valuable assets for a politician is his/her ability to use language in order to gain the support of voter. In this paper, it will be discussed that how in the history of Indian great leaders or politicians persuade citizens in nation building and also examine and expose the verbal statements of the present time politicians which make the public surprised by their statements and derogatory languages. It is suggested that serious check and balances should be developed to ensure the sustained reduction of unfair politics so as to improve democratic consolidation. It is also a matter of great urgency for concerted action on the part of the judiciary and legislature to rescue India's secular democracy.
