Media and communication transformation under market economy and multiparty political system in India Agrawal Binod C Mentor, Media Research Centre, School of Communication, MAHE Press Corner, Manipal-576104, Karnataka Online published on 12 April, 2019. Abstract The globalization and market economy has opened up new opportunities of business and trade for national and multinational media companies to compete with high stakes for profit and creation of wealth. In the process, there is a clear indication that few individuals at the cost of millions are accumulating unprecedented quantities of wealth in which media and communication transformation has a major role to play. As a result great gulf is being created between "media poor" and "media rich" leading to increased exploitation and control of "media poor" by "media rich" in market economy.
