Abstract The present study was carried out in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttrakhand to disseminate the information of traditionally used medicinal plants by the communities through Community Radio. Local women heavily use these traditionally available medicinal plants for health. They have strong faith that these medicinal plants have no side effects. The information on medicinal plant was collected with the key informants and knowledgeable person of the community. After documentation of these medicinal plants; community radio programme was developed on "traditional health care practices". To assess the knowledge level of rural women, knowledge test was administered before and after broadcasting the community radio programme.
