Abstract

The objective of this research was to monitor the fruit flies by using pheromone traps, and the specimens’ collection was made from four study sites: Armaan Nagar, Hardaspur, Phagwara, and Agriculture Farm, LPU Punjab. The collected species were sorted out, counted, and identified up to the species level. The findings indicated the presence of four distinct species of fruit flies, namely Bactrocera zonata, Bactrocera dorsalis, Zeugodacus cucurbitae, and Zeugodacus tau. The peak period of activity was during 2021 and 2022 was August and September, respectively and Armaan Nagar and Hardaspur recorded maximum number of fruit flies. The dominant species was Bacterocera zonata followed by B. dorsalis. All the population of Zeugodacus tau was remain low throughout the study period.
