Abstract

During the study on population dynamics of insects damaging green gram field it was found that whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) incidence reached its peak (8.63 whiteflies/three leaves) in 38th SMW and leafhopper population attained highest number 7.56 leafhopper/3 leaves in 37th SMW. In case of pod borer peak (0.92 larvae/plant) was reported during 38th SMW while spotted pod borer was first observed in 35th SMW (0.39 larvae/plant) and its maximum population (3.85 larvae/plant) was recorded during 38th SMW. Whitefly population showed positive significant correlation with the maximum temperature (r = 0.649) and negative non-significant correlation with the minimum temperature (r = -0.260), morning and evening RH (r = -0.519 and -0.628) and negatively correlation with rainfall (r = -0.837).Gram pod borers revealed a positive and highly significant correlation with temperature (maximum) (r = 0.741), whereas negative correlation was linked to morning and evening relative humidity (r = -0.798 and r = -688, respectively). Leafhopper population showed non significant correlation with all abiotic factors except rainfall which was negatively significant correlated with population (r = -0.441*). Larval population of spotted pod borer showed negative correlation with all meterological parameters except maximum temperature (r = 0.956) which showed highly significant positive correlation, whereas negative but significant correlation with rainfall (r = -823).
