Abstract

In an exploratory survey altogether 15 species of Phytoseiid mites were recorded under subfamily Amblyseiinae, Typhlodrominae and Phytoseiinae and these mites belonged to genera Amblyseius, Euseius, Scapulaseius, Neoseiulus, Typhlodromips, Phytoseius and Typhlodromus (Anthoseius). Moreover, five species of other than Phytoseiid mites under the order Prostigmata were also recoded. Four species of phytophagous mites under the family Tetranychidae, one species under the family Tenuipalpade and one species under the family Tarsonemidae were recorded. Among the Phytoseiid mite, Amblyseius largoensis was found as a dominant predatory mite in surveyed areas. The other predatory mites under the family of Tydeidae, Bdellidae, Ascidae, Cunaxidae, and Stigmaeidae were also recorded during the period of investigation. Concerning the phytophagous mites, Tetranychus urticae, Schizotetranychus krungthepensis and Polyphagotarsonemus latus were found as destructive mite pests associated with different agro-horticultural plants in Jharkhand and western part of West Bengal.
