Abstract Rehabilitation of edentulous state requires fabrication of removable complete dentures, removable partial dentures or fixed partial dentures, but as the success rate of these are comparative low and patients faced various problems like loose dentures, loss of tooth structure during tooth preparation, Inadequate abutment support, a recent concept of rehabilitation of edentulous state using implants has been evolved since 1800’s when Maggilio (1809) inserted a gold implant –freshly extracted tooth socket. In this article an effort has been made to explain the indications, contraindication and how to place single tooth implant using one stage surgery.
