Online published on 8 December, 2011. Abstract Objective The aim of this study was to assess the diagnostic efficacy of Sialography technique in diagnosing submandibular salivary gland disorders. Methods Three patients with a history of swelling in the submandibular gland were subjected for Sialography procedure, using the simple injection techniques with water soluble contrast media (Urograffin). Plain film radiography was used to analyze the results. Results Out of three patients one patient showed no obstruction of the gland while other two patients showed obstruction of gland, partial destruction of parenchymal structure due to calculi. Conclusion Sialography using simple injection technique with the help of plain film radiography is a useful adjuvant in the diagnosis of salivary gland disorders. It provides information regarding the presence, exact position of calculi and the amount of obstruction with functional status of gland. Sialography is a simple, inexpensive, minimally invasive chair side procedure with most information about salivary gland and its functions.
