Abstract

One hundred seventy water samples were collected aseptically from different water sources in and around Palampur. These samples were subjected to standard parasitological examination for the presence of Balantidium coli trophozoites/cysts. A total of 11 samples were found positive. Higher prevalence was found in surface water (16.6%) as compared to tap water (5.4%). Ground water was, however, free from B. coli.
