Abstract ‘Flavescence dorée’ (FD) is the most dangerous disease among grapevine yellows and also an emerging disease in Portugal. The foci of FD infections are located in important areas of high-quality wine production regions for D.O.C. well known wines such as ‘Vinho Verde’ and ‘Vinho do Porto’ as well as in Central region of Portugal. Scaphoideus titanus Ball, is also well adapted in the same areas of the country. Around 14 hectares of vineyards were destroyed until now.
