Online published on 21 February, 2012. Abstract In the last few years many reports focused on the emergences related to new phytoplasma diseases or new outbreaks of already known ones. Some of these diseases were recorded in Europe and gave cause of concerns because of their possible wide spreading throughout the continent, damaging forest trees or economically important crops. The purpose of the present work is to provide useful information for an appropriate and efficient identification of the insect vectors.
