Analysis of factors influencing sale of electric vehicles in Hubballi, Dharwad

Abstract

The world is facing crisis of ‘global warming’ due to rising pollution levels caused by human actions. Road transportation may be a major contributor to pollution. To curb this, there are variety of companies in India like -TVS, Bajaj and plenty of other local Electric Vehicle (EV) companies who are manufacturing EV locally. There are many factors that challenge seller and dealer within the EV segment market. A study has been done out on the factors that influence the dealers in selling EV Vehicles. A structured questionnaire was administered to EV showroom managers located in Hubballi-Dharwad. The response was analysed using Interpretative Structural Modelling (ISM). It was found that, awareness among seller, environment, range, government incentives, charging stations, battery import, battery (recycle) & battery life are the major factors influencing the sale of EV vehicles. Where the awareness (knowledge) among seller is that the most significant factor among all the eight factors.
