Author Guidelines

Pest Management in Horticultural Ecosystems, an international journal, covers the field of pest (insects, mites, nematodes, slugs, snails, birds, mammals) management in its broadest sense. It includes bioecology, population modelling, biocontrol, host plant resistance, use of plant products, semiochemicals, insecticide resistance, insect biotechnology and IPM in fruits, vegetables, ornamental, medicinal and aromatic crops, plantation crops, tuber crops, spices, etc. The journal is published twice in a year, in June and December.

Two copies of the manuscript and an electronic form (3 ½? floppy, MS Word) should be submitted to the Chief Editor. The manuscript should preferably pertain to the research work carried out during the last five years. Author(s) must certify that the manuscript has not been submitted elsewhere. All papers will be refereed. Short communications on significant research findings or new records are welcome. Only invited review papers will be considered. Decision of the Chief Editor is final. Authors are permitted to photocopy their articles for non-commercial and scientific purposes.

TITLE : Title of the article should be bold and in capital. Scientific names should be in running and italicized. Author name(s) should be in capital and bold, with full address in running.

ABSTRACT : The abstract should not exceed 200 words. It should be suitable for indexing and publication in abstracting journals.

TEXT : The text should be typed in double space on one side of bond paper (21 x 29 cm) with 3 cm margin on all sides and in clear and concise English. The title should be brief, specific and describe the scope of the paper. Below the title, author(s) name(s), and address of the first author should be given. Address(es) of the other author(s) should be given as footnotes and indicated by consecutive superscript numbers. The paper should be divided into subheadings such as Abstract, Key Words, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Acknowledgements, and References. Subheadings should be on the left margin. It is desirable that authors get their papers edited for english grammar prior to submission. The length of the paper should not exceed 2000 words.

NOMENCLATURE : Common names of organisms should be qualified at the first mention by full Latin name and authority, followed by the order and family in parenthesis. Pesticides should be referred by their accepted common names. The trade name may be used with the chemical formula given in parenthesis.

UNITS AND ABBREVIATIONS : All units should be in metric (SI) system.

TABLES : Each table should be on a separate sheet at the end of the paper, numbered in the order in which it appears in the text. Table should carry a short title and be numbered in Arabic numerals. All data reported must be subjected to appropriate statistical analysis. Standard abbreviations for column headings should be followed.

ILLUSTRATIONS : Illustrations should be relevant to the article and referred to in the text. Line drawings should be laser printed, of 10 x 15 cm dimension wifh legends and captions.

REFERENCES : References should be cited in the text in the form: (Granett and Dunbard, 1975). The term et al, should be used when there are more than two authors. The letters a, b, a…. should be used following the year, to distinguish between two or more papers by the same author(s) in one year. References at the end of the text should be given in the following form :
