Abstract Change is the order of the day and adaptability to change is the essence of success. Only those who can cope up deregulated environment, fast changing technology and market will be able to ensure their survival and success. Managing a diverse workforce meaningfully is the key challenge before today's executives. To have a sense of accomplishment and success in global business it is direly needed on the part of the organizations to motivate their employees and provide them adequate support in learning the cultures prevailing in other parts of the globe. Researches have been indicative of the fact that a good number of the overseas assignments have failed owing to the inability of the expatriates to survive the host culture. It is sagacious to be conversant with the cultures prevailing across the world so as to be successful in the global business. The article is an unpretentious attempt to refer to the backdrop against which the article is written, related concepts, cultural practices prevailing across the globe and tips to manage cultural diversity and avoid culture shock to be gracefully completing an overseas assignment.
