Study on spiritual perception in the workplace of government university with reference to Dibrugarh university, Assam, India

Abstract

Spirituality has been accepted as the most popular field of interest in the field of management. Spirituality in management is all about experiencing and sharing common attachment of people, which attracts and bond them in togetherness within the work place and organisation as whole. Managements usually tend to apply more criteria which express the relatedness for others within the society and the connection with self-values which enhance the performance criteria in upgrading the opportunities for growth and development. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the organisation, a leading government university in India, is a spiritual workplace and the employees are spiritually fulfilled at work, at the same time living the core values of the university. The results reveal that the employees believe the university to be a spiritual workplace, and they are fulfilled with spiritual monastics environment at work and it seems to be living the values. The findings of this paper highlight an opportunity to determine the satisfaction of the employees within the organisation and it also assesses the link between spirituality at workplace and employees’ satisfaction as well.
