Abstract The idea of sustainable consumption and production has drawn a lot of study attention due to environmental contamination and concern for natural resources. Studies on sustainable consumption and production, however, still need to be developed and are in their early stages. This study synthesised the existing knowledge in order to understand what we know so far and what we need to know in order to understand the wider dimensions of the phenomenon to provide a broader perspective on this issue. This study conducted a systematic review of the pertinent literature published with the goal of providing the said perspective from sustainable consumption to production. This research has particularly addressed eight important questions which are listed below and urges further investigation to close the gaps in the body of knowledge.
