Effectiveness of School based Training Programme on Emotional Intelligence among Adolescents in Panchayat Union Middle School, Alamedu, Pallipalayam at Namakkal Vasumathi N. Emotional Intelligence signifies the ability to understand and manage ones as well as the others' emotions. The aim of this research was to examine the effectiveness of school- based training programme on emotional intelligence among 30 adolescents. Prior to the collection of data, permission was obtained from the concerned authority from Panchayat union middle school, Alamedu, Pallipayam at Namakkal. After obtaining written informed consent and assent, adolescents who fulfilled the inclusion criteria was recruited and enrolled in this study. Pre experimental one group pretest- posttest design was used in this study. Simple random sampling technique was used to recruit the study subjects. Pretest was conducted by using demographic variables &Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test. Subjects received school- based training programme for 30-45 minutes, twice a week for the period of 1 month. Posttest was conducted at the end of 1st month, by using the same assessment techniques. Comparison of mean, standard deviation of pretest emotional intelligence scores showed 90.4 ± 18.62 and posttest showed 98.9 ± 19.78. The results were comparable to the significant difference between the mean pre and posttest emotional intelligence scores. The mean score increased in posttest and showed significant improvement in emotional intelligence among adolescents. The Paired't' test value of emotional intelligence scores showed statistical significance (t=14.09). Henceforth, emotional intelligence improved after school- based training programme among adolescents. Top Keywords School, Training Programme, Emotional Intelligence, Adolescents. Top |
