Abstract

A field experiment was conducted in the year 2002–03 and 2003–04 at Bareilly, which falls in Tarai region of UP in randomized block design with four replications and six treatments to study the effect of organic manures with reduced doses of inorganic fertilizers on growth and yield of capsicum hybrid Cv. Indira with the aim to supplement nutritional requirements of crop through organic manures. Maximum improvement in plant height, number of fruit and fruit yield per plant, average fruit weight and fruit yield per hectare was recorded when part of plant nutrients requirement was met through application of vermicompost (10t/ha) and 50% nutrients of the recommended doses through inorganic fertilizers and the differences were found significant. Meeting total plant nutrients requirements only through chemical fertilizers rather showed adverse effect on yield and yield attributes.
