Abstract A study has been made about steel production in Kerala with the current demand, supply and the players of outside Kerala state who are having market in Kerala state. It is found that the steel manufactured in Kerala is not able to meet the state demand. The reason has been probed and the potential market for the steel in Kerala has been analyzed. A general outlook by using the SWOT analysis on the available data and a survey made is presented in this paper. This study would help the reader and the players to have an overall view about the present scenario of steel manufacturing in Kerala, demand, supply and problems connected with it.
