Abstract Purpose The study explores the relationship between Quality of work life and work stress of Managerial and Non-Managerial employees of Private Sector Organizations in India. The study further investigates the relationship between level of employees and gender on Quality of work life Design/methodology/approach Managerial and Non-Managerial employees from five private sector organizations participated in this study. To analyze the data, One Way ANOVA, One Sample T Test, Chi Square test and Pearson Correlation were used Findings The result of the study revealed that there is a negative relationship between Quality of work life and work stress. Quality of work life differs on the basis of gender. Further it was proved that quality of work life of managerial employees differed from that of non-managerial employees. Research Implications Quality of work life can reduce work stress among employees. Keeping this in mind, managers may take measures to improve quality of work life of their employees by taking measures like improving communication and providing them time so that they can spend with their family. Originality/value Despite the academic interest in Quality of work life there is a dearth of research work in Quality of work life particularly in private sector organizations in India where the job security is very less.
