Analysis of quality of life and credit plus options for Bandhan microfinance clients

Abstract

This report is based on the survey conducted in West Bengal on the clients of Bandhan microfinance. The study finds the change in the quality of life of the beneficiaries through both wings of Bandhan, Bandhan Financial Services Limited and Bandhan Konnagar (not-for-profit entity of Bandhan Financial Services Private Limited). Quality of life is factual indicator indicating the overall growth of human both in social and financial terms. The study concentrates on this and looks into present financial and social stability of the clients. In all ten parameters were chosen to study the socio-economic condition of the clients and based on response the change in client's quality of life after they began to receive the service of microfinance was calculated. Further it explores the business standing of the people and analyzes the present impediments in the maximization of their profit and future prospect of their trade. This study also finds out the credit plus options that Bandhan has, other than its present endeavours, to bring socio-economic growth. It was found that Bandhan has made substantial positive transformation in the lives of unprivileged people. Bandhan already carries out a number of development activities and this report suggests the further spheres where Bandhan can bring revolutionary change to accomplish the desired inclusive growth of the unprivileged section of society. This study thus becomes a model for microfinance institutions to widen their service to have a social impact along with their economic impact.
