Green infrastructure: An emerging concept in India Shil Parag Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, Assam University, Silchar-788011, India Online published on 20 June, 2013. Abstract Green Infrastructure (GI) is the sub-regional association of protected sites, nature reserves, green spaces, and greenway linkages and so on. The linkages include river corridors and flood plains, migration routes and features of the landscape, which are of importance as wildlife corridors. With the commencement of the 21st century, construction companies, whether small or big, have become more careful about adopting green practices to construct eco-friendly buildings. This is a popular concept in western countries due to their compulsion. In India it is in infant stage. In this paper, an attempt has been made to know the concept of GI and its position and popularity among the business houses in India. The paper is based on mainly reviewing the available literatures and information. Top Keywords Ecofriendly, green, infrastructure, stromwater, green roof, EIA. Top |
