Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to study about Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET), Challenges in MANET, Routing Protocols in MANET and Cooperative Black Hole Attack. MANET is collection of autonomous nodes or Mobile Nodes that communicate with each other over wireless links. In MANET there is no Centralized control, mobile nodes can easily join or leave the network. Security is the main challenge in MANET due to its Open medium. Different Routing Protocols are used in MANET that controls how nodes decide which way to route packets within the network. Various attacks are present at different layers. Cooperative Black Hole Attack is an attack in which two or more black hole nodes are present and work cooperatively. Black Hole Attack has two phases, in first the black hole node present itself having a valid route to destination and in second phase the attacker node drop the packets without forwarding them.
