Abstract

This paper has been designed to study the environmental awareness among male and female senior secondary school students. For this purpose of investigation, descriptive survey method was employed. A sample of 200 male and female secondary school students of Rohtak district of Haryana state has been selected by random sampling technique. Environmental Awareness Ability Measure (EAAM) tool by Praveen Kumar Jha (1998) has been used to collect data. Besides descriptive statistics ‘t’-test was applied to find out the significance of difference between means of different groups. From the analysis and interpretation of the present study it was found that the male students had better understanding of environmental awareness, as compared to the female students. Moreover the Science student had more environmental awareness in comparison to arts students. There is an unmindful exploitation of natural resources by human being thus there is an urgent need to create environmental awareness among all human beings to conserve, protect and nurture our environmental resources and we can start this from students itself as they are our future citizens.
