A comparative analysis: Operating income and operating expenses of airlines industry

Abstract

Indian aviation industry has helped in the growth of the Indian economy. They are playing an important role in air transportation of international airlines and cargo but also contribute substantial value addition in term of service quality, passenger satisfaction, innovation and cost effectiveness of the airlines in India. The factors have important impacts on the technical efficiency levels of airline companies. The airline industry is the fastest means of transportation. A developed and efficient airline industry in a country is the key to faster growth of the economy. The researcher has been to analyze the comparative study (Operating Income and Operating Expenses) between three International Airlines in India. The study used statistical tool: Paired two sample t-test. The sample design of the study was selected three airline companies 1. Jet Airways 2. Spice Jet 3. IndiGo. The study was concluded that the Airline industry is one of the fastest growing industry in India, which offering many kind of facilities. This study reveals that the comparative study (Operating Income and Operating Expenses) between three airline companies in India. The IndiGo's Operating Income was compare with four years'growth rate of 56.33 per cent and Operating Expenses was 52.99 per cent. The Spice Jet Operating Income was compare with four years'growth rate of 49.63 per cent and Operating Expenses was 45.07 per cent. The Jet Airways Operating Income was compare with four years ’growth rate of 17.99 per cent and Operating Expenses was 31.09 per cent. Overall IndiGo airlines got the highest growth rate of Operating Income for the four years'period compare with other airline companies.
