Abstract

Suicide is an issue that has racked the brains of the millions and millions of people all over the globe. It is so critical that great philosophers and even general humanity are striving day in and day out to discover its cause. Thousands and thousands of people fall a prey to this malignant disease everyday out of frustration, despair, melancholy, caused by broken relationships. Indeed, none wants to die in this world. Everyone wants to enjoy this world to his or her heart's content. But sometimes darkness descends on man's life. Discontent surrounds his life and puts out all lights and paralyses his hopes and aspirations. He discovers that everything in this world is futile and embraces death which seems to him the only key to happiness and escape. We don't know if we have any right to enjoy the liberty of determining about life and death. It becomes absolutely relevant in this context how much committed are we to others around us. However, the subject of suicide stands as an interrogation before us. Suicide has become the subject matter in literature, philosophy and sociology because it strikes the keynote of the fundamental question about life. The again of this essay is to throw the light into the dark corridors of death and to know if we can give it a moral support.
