Abstract In almost all underdeveloped countries where per person income is very low, income disparity has given birth to a number of problems, out of which poverty is surely the greatest. In fact poverty is a socio-economic phenomenon which is closelyrelated with disparity. Poverty is a multifaceted phenomenon and it is biggest challenge to the humanity. Poverty is common in world the main factors of poverty are lack of income, less productive employment and, inadequate infrastructure, which affects the quality of life and employment etc. This paper is an attempt to identify the problems of poverty in India and Secondary data is collected for the study. Further it suggests solution for removing poverty in India. Some of the suggestion iscontrolling the population, increasing employment opportunities, eliminating corruption and black money, providing education and health facilities for poor should be delivered through the government.
