Abstract

The central motive of teacher education programmes is to prepare teachers who can be well accustomed to the skills of teachings and is also able to meet the challenges during teaching-learning process. School Internship is therefore one of the most important features of teacher education curriculum. The researcher has tried to investigate the difficulties faced by the trainee teachers during school internship programme. 150 trainee teachers were randomly chosen and the data was collected using a 20-item questionnaire. Descriptive Survey method was adopted for the Study. The difficulties found were Lack of Infrastructural Facilities, Poor Learning Environment, Lack of Cooperation from School of Internship and Stress for Completion of Course Related activities. Besides, t-tests were employed and found that there is a significant difference between mean scores of perception about difficulties faced by trainee teachers undergoing internship in Govt. and Private Schools. But no significant difference between mean scores of perception of difficulties faced by Deputed and Fresher Trainee Teachers was found along with Type and Level of Institution. Hence, there exists a distinct difference in the management and cooperation extended by Government and Private Schools towards Trainee Teachers undergoing internship and this needs to be eradicated soon.
