Colonisation of Scale Insect, Melanaspis glomerata G. on Sugarcane Genotypes Krishnamoorthy S.V., Mahadevan N.R. Cotton Research Station, T.N A.U., Snvilliputtur, 626125, India Abstract The studies were conducted to study on biology of Melanaspis glomerata on seven genotypes/hybrids of sugarcane viz, Si 85057, CoSi 86071, CoN 8011, Co 88025, CoN 7712, Si 85036 and CoC 671. Development indices worked out on the seven genotypes, were compared with standard CoC 671 CoSi 86071 appeared to be least suitable for growth and development. The adult development was found to prolong by 10 days Also the female body weight was reduced and lesser population survived as females (42 1%). However, the differences in the mean number of scale insects colonising each genotype did not exhibit wide variation Top Keywords Melanaspis glomerata, Colonization, Saccharum sp. Top | |
