Online published on 18 March, 2019. Abstract Purpose The present study aims to evaluate the efficacy of N-Butyl 2 cyanoacrylate glue as compared with routinely used silk sutures for closure of intraoral surgical wounds after minor oral surgical procedures. Method 10 patients (20 Surgical Sites) requiring bilateral alveoloplasty of one complete arch (maxillary or mandibular) were selected for the study. The quadrants were randomly selected, one side was closed with 3–0 silk sutures and the other by N-Butyl 2-Cyanoacrylate. Results N-Butyl 2-Cyanoacrylate was found to be better as compared to conventional silk sutures in terms of pain, bleeding, swelling and wound dehiscence. Conclusion It was concluded that cyanoacrylate adhesive had certain advantages over conventional suturing technique, having hemostatic, desensitizing and bacteriostatic properties, associated with reduced inflammation, ease of application and avoidance of second visit for suture removal with the added advantage of no needle prick injury.
