Stratum forming edapic species diversity of myxophyceae genus Phormidium kuetz. Chaudhari Archana P.G. Department of Botany, S.S.V.P.S.L.K.Dr.P.R. Ghogrey Science College, Dhule-424 005 (M.S.) Online published on 22 May, 2020. Abstract Members of Myxophyceae show slimy growths on soil. On availability of moisture they forms thick stratum over soil surface. Phormidium Kuetz is a filamentous non heterocystous algae belonging to class Myxophyceae. It is most common stratum forming algae occurring in edapic environment. Phormidium observed to form thin blue green slippery stratum on soil which becomes yellowish green after desiccation. Present article describes 27 taxa of genus Phormidium Kuetz. which have been observed naturally growing on soils from North Maharashtra.
