Abstract A survey of insect pollinators associated with sesame, Sesamun indicum L. was conducted at the agricultural farm during February –June, 2021 and 2022 at Nanded district in Maharashtra state. Various insect pollinators visiting sesame crop were observed during flowering time. Total 23 insect species were found visiting sesame flower. Out of 23 insect species, 16 species were belonging to Hymenoptera, 5 to Diptera and 1 each to Lepidoptera and Coleoptera. Among Hymenopterans, Apis florea, Apis ceranai., Trigona iridipennis, Polistes gallicus, L. niger and Eumenes maxillosus were recorded during flowering period. The number pollinators visiting the sesame flowers were found to be maximum during 9 to 11 hours. Top Keywords Sesamum indicum, Nanded, Pollinators, Hymenoptera. Top |
