Imapct of Theories of Distance Education on Teaching Learning Process Malik Muhammad Manzoor Department of DNFCE, Islamabad, Pakistan. Abstract Theories play an important role in the development of any system. Same is the case with the theories of distance education. Therefore, the focus of this study was to evaluate the theories of distance education and their impact on teaching learning process. The objectives of the study was to analyze the concept of distance education, state the teaching learning process of distance education, and to evaluate how the theories of distance education are used in teaching learning process and what is their impact. This was a survey study. Population of the study consisted of 137 academicians, 111 tutors, 740 students, and 6 media producers. Questionnaires were used for data collection. It was found from the data analysis that distance education materials act as framework in teaching learning process. It was also found that mostly the student depends upon the learning environment and most of the time, the student is in isolation. At the same time, if there is something unpleasant in the isolation, information and communication technologies could break the isolation. It was concluded that intension preparatory work is must for effective teaching in distance education. It was further concluded that strong planning and organization is the base for the success of distance education. It was recommended that the materials of distance education may be given proper attraction while it is being prepared. The study further recommended that expert professionals may be involved for the improvement of whole the system tutorials, workshops, seminars and conference.
