Effects of Urea and Molasses Supplementation on Nutrients Utilisation from Deoiled Mahua (Bassia Latifolia) Seed Cake

Abstract

To 2 groups of adult male buffaloes, 75 or 100 percent deoiled mahua seed cake as repiaccr of conventional concentrate mixture was fed mixed with 50g urea and 500g molasses followed by wheat straw to appetite. Two rations were isoprotcinous. Voluntary DM Intake was comparable in 2 groups. DCP intake was also not significantly different between the 2 groups. TDN intake was significantly (P<0.05) higher in group 1 than 2. Likewise the digestibilities of DM, OM, CF and EE were significantly higher in group 1 than 2. Nitrogen balance in 2 groups was positive and comparable Urinary nitrogen excretion varied from 39 to 43 percent of the absorbed nitrogen.
