Abstract

Considering the importance of training function, assessment of training with special reference to its effectiveness has been done in this study. For this purpose two training programmes i.e. national training course on dry land horticulture (T1) and specialized workshop on dry land agriculture technology (T2) were selected from Centre of Excellence for Training, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. The responses were collected from trainees who attended the training programme with the help of scale developed for this purpose. Number of trainees attending T 1 was 26 and T2 was 15. The total training effectiveness score for T1 was 109.77 and T2 was 104.4 on the scale having range of 1 to 126. Both the training programmes were found to be moderately effective with minimum variation in quantitative responses. Majority of trainees (Tl 86.66) and (T2-66.66) were found in medium category of training effectiveness score. Education and professional experience of the trainees have shown significant relationship with total training effectiveness score in case of T I only. So both of the programmes were termed as moderate in nature and pointed the scope for improvement.
