Genetic associations in Amaranthus* Pandey R. M. Cytogenetics Laboratory, National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow 226 001 (India) *NBRI Research Publication No 93 (N.S.). Summary Six varieties and their possible F1, and F2 hybrids in A. hypochondriacus L. were studied for phenotypic and genotypic correlations. Grain yield showed positive association with number of panicles/plant, length of the panicle and plant height for all generations. Among yield components, the number of panicles/plant × plant height, number of panicles/plant × panicle length and panicle length × plant height exhibited positive associations. Thus, it was suggesced that yield in A. hypochondriacus was possible through the selection for these traits. Top | |
