Aneuploidy in jute* Paria P.1, Basak S. L.1 Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Kalyani University, Kalyani, 741235, West Bengal, India *Part of the Ph.D. thesis submitted by P. Paria to Kalyani University, West Bengal, India. 1Present address: J.A.R.I., Barrackpore, West Bengal, India. Summary With a view to determining the extent of aneuploidy in the progenies of autotetraploids of Corchorus olitorius, autotetraploids were selfed and intercrossed to diploids reciprocally. Selfed autotetraploid produced 4n ± 3 progenies while 4n × 2n produced 3n − l to 3n + 4 chromosome classes. 2n × 4n cross was not successful. Established and raw autotetraploids did not differ in the extent of aneuploidy in their selfed progenies. There was no correlation between pollen and ovule fertility of different euploid and aneuploid chromosome classes. Top | |
