Chromosome pairing in tetraploid forms of Solamum Nigrum Rao G. R., Kumar Anil Department of Botany, University of Madras, Autonomous P. G. Centre, Tiruchirapalli-620 020 Summary Cytology of two tetraploids obtained from progeny of the pentaploid hybrids of the cross between the natural hexaploid and tetraploid forms of Solanum nigrum was studied. The meiosis was normal in one of the tetraploids with high pollen fertility and fruit-set. In the other tetraploid plant, meiosis was irregular with high pollen sterility and absence of fruit-set.
