Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2014 to study the “Response of integrated nutrient management on growth, yield and yield attributing characters in cluster bean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba L.)” at Students’ Research Farm of Khalsa College, !mritsar. The experiment was laid out with 12 treatments of farmyard manure, vermi-compost, poultry manure and decomposed rice straw as sole source of nutrients and their combinations with chemical fertilizers were tested in comparison with recommended dose of fertilizers and replicated three times in randomized block design. Among different treatments, application of recommended dose of fertilizers through inorganic fertilizers and 75per cent of recommended dose of inorganic fertilizers + 25per cent recommended dose of fertilizers through poultry manure were at par but were recorded significantly higher in growth characters (viz. plant height, number of branches, dry matter and leaf area index), yield components (viz. number of cluster per plant, number of pod per plant, pod length, number of seed per pod and 1000 seed weight) and seed yield (14.49 q ha−1) over all other treatments and were recorded 118.55 per cent and 96.68 per cent higher yield over control. Among treatments of sole application of organic manures, 100 per cent recommended dose of fertilizers through poultry manure was superior to all other treatments and registered 9.87 per cent higher seed yield over control. Among various organic, inorganic treatments and their combinations, 100 per cent supply of nutrients through inorganic fertilizers found highest cost benefit ratio (2.20) followed by 75per cent of recommended dose of inorganic fertilizers + 25per cent recommended dose of fertilizers through poultry manure (1.96).
