Abstract Prevalence of Eimeria sp. infection in goats in and around Patna was found to be 55% and 40% during examination of 320 faecal samples and 115 intestinal scrapings, respectively. Highest frequency was recorded in monsoon season followed by summer and winter. Kids (0–5 months) suffered mostly, but subsequently became resistant with advancement of age. Infection rate was found to be higher in females and goats managed under open grazing condition carried more infection than goats on the farm. Sporulation time and morphometry of oocysts revealed presence of 5 species of Eimeria viz. E. arloingi (36.7%), E. ninakohlyakimovae (28.5%), E. parva (22.1%), E. christenseni (10.7%) and E. faurei (1.7%) in local goat population. Top Keywords Patna, Goat, Prevalence, Eimeria sp. Top |
