Abstract

Twenty eight advanced, elite breeding lines of four macrosperma x microsperma crosses selected on the basis of high seed yield per plant in the background of bold seed size alongwlth two checks were evaluated to study the behaviour of stabillty parameters with respect to six quantitative characters In ten environments, Both linear and non-linear components of g x e interactions were found to be significant but linear component was predominant over non-linear component of g X e interactions for all studied six characters. The genotype HPLC 8882 was observed to be dwarfer and stable In plant height. None of the studied genotypes was found to be stabla for branches per plant, fertile nodes per plant, pods per plant, pods per node and seeds per pod. The estimates of heritability across environments for all studied characters has a wide range from low in poor environment, where expression is limited, to high in the best environment. The non-significant correlation between regression coefficient (β1) and deviation from regression (S2di) of studied characters indicated that the stability parameters in lentil appeared to be governed by different gene and gene combinations for these characters.
