Abstract Adolescence is a transitional stage of physical and psychological human development. During this period adolescents may experience stress and fr ustration causing use of ineffective coping strategies. This study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of Bibliotherapy upon coping skills among B. Sc. nursing first year students at selected Colleges of nursing at Chennai. A quasi experimental research design was used and a total of 60 samples (30+30 for control group and experimental group) were selected using simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using Demographic variable Proforma and Dr. Carver Modified COPE questionnaire. The collected data were statistically analyzed and found that there is no significant difference in mean scores of coping skills among B. Sc nursing I yr students before Bibliotherapy (108.4 ± 4.31, 106.4 ± 5.6) between control and experimental group (P>0.05), whereas in post test after administration of Bibliotherapy, the mean score of coping skills of experimental group (122.4 ± 6.69) were higher when compared with coping skills scores of control group (108 ± 4.31). The difference was found to be statistically significant at P<0.001. The study findings revealed that Bibliotherapy is effective in improving coping skills among B. Sc nursing I yr students.
