Job satisfaction among women fish vendors in Kanyakumari District: A Case-Study Dr. Suresh C. Assistant professor in management Bharathiar University Arts & Science College, Thondamuthur, Coimbatore District Online published on 2 May, 2018. Abstract A feeling of fulfillment or enjoyment that a person derives from his job can be termed as job satisfaction. Job Satisfaction is an important aspect for any person to achieve a sense of completeness in their work. Despite the huge increase in the fisheries population, there still exist poverty and economic instability in the lives of fisher folk of Kanyakumari District. Though women fish vendors form a part of the fisher folk who help in building up the status, education levels and other necessities of their family/children through their hard work, gender discrimination prevails at the work place and even at home. Women fish vendors work hard and are also supported by the Government through ways of monetary inclusiveness, but there seems to be little prosperity and development in the life of this section. It becomes necessary to understand the socio-economic and cultural background of the fisher folk from the point of view of their job satisfaction. The present study is an attempt to analyse the job satisfaction of women fish vendors in two villages of Pozhikkarai and Puthenthurai in Agastheeswaram Taluk of Kanyakumari District. A total number of 200 women fish vendors were selected for the study and analysis of the collected data is discussed below Top | |
